Getting started for lessons is fairly simple, you need two things a valid provisional licence and either an instructor or a family member/friend willing to teach you.
As it stands today, due to covid delays and industrial action at the DVLA in Swansea, there are long delays on getting that provisional licence back. We are hearing reports of up to 16 weeks in some cases. Therefore planning is key. Try to apply online if you can, these applications tend to be processed a bit quicker.
You can get your provisional licence here: Gov.uk – Provisional Licence
Once you have your licence, its time to begin lessons, either by using a professional Approved Driving Instructor or a family member/friend as long as they are over 21 years old and have been driving at least 3 years. Remember, if not using an instructor, ensure the person supervising you knows what to be teaching/advising and not passing on their bad habits.
